A e-commerce website for everything you need for throwing the best party ever, and more.
The client is currently not conducting any product sales through their own website. The desire is to design a website that is as functional as possible for the target audience: individuals aged 25 to 44. The client aims to establish a strong relationship with their buyers, fostering a sense of community and involvement with the company during the purchase process.
The first step for us was to immerse ourselves in the problems that the company is currently facing or might encounter in the future. This was achieved by examining the company itself, analysing its position in the market in comparison to competitors, and conducting interviews during meetings with the client.
Questions for the client
Market Analysis: We started by analysing the market and competitors collecting data and comparing visual identities for similar services.
Swot analytics: We conducted a swot analytics research on the client looking for their and weaknesses.
Persona Development: Utilising the data gathered from our research, we initiated the development of a persona for the primary consumer, establishing a behavioural pattern to implement the optimal experience for that specific group.
AARRR Analystics: In order to retain consumers, we crafted an AARRR funnel with the persona in consideration.
After creating a clearer vision of how we could achieve our project goal, we began the prototyping phase by developing wireframes to easily visualise how our ideas might look. Once satisfied with the layout, we transitioned to transforming our wireframes into a mid-fidelity prototype using Figma.
We proceeded to start prototyping to conduct tests on the primary consumer group we had identified.
After completing the prototype, we initiated testing sessions where we had participants navigate through the site while assigning tasks to encourage them to explore as much as possible.
After conducting several tests, we realised that the tasks we provided were not adequately designed to extract the information we sought.
We observed that the tasks were more geared towards navigation, whereas the information we aimed to gather was more focused on functionality, design, and customer interaction.
In response to this realisation, we decided to modify the testing approach to gather more useful information.
We asked participants to review each individual page and provide feedback on what they found positive and areas that could be improved.
Early wireframes led to interactive prototypes, which were tested and iterated on.
The primary focus was on crafting a visually appealing and emotionally engaging experience. The design seamlessly integrated the client's existing color scheme while adhering to service standards after a comparison on competitors, ensuring a recognisable interface for users.
The changes made to the interface
Working on Partypunkten as my first real project provided valuable insights into the importance of research in the early stages and the challenges posed by the lack of preexisting data.
I find immense satisfaction in the design process and am actively expanding my knowledge in UI design.
The next phase involves completing a fully developed website to conduct further tests on customer behavior, aiming to enhance the site and boost the company's business.
Ps. As I reflect on this project while creating my portfolio, a year later, I acknowledge the numerous usability improvements that could be made. I take pride in my progress since then and appreciate the accomplishments of the team during the initial stages of our journey to become UX/UI designers.
